Development of new course in Electricity Policy Modeling and Analysis

AYPEG together with Grigol Robakidze University have carried out a joint project. The project implied the development and implementation of a new course in Electricity Policy Modeling and Analysis, aimed to improve the MA program in Energy Management at Grigol Robakidze University. The development of the new course was financed by G-PAC’s University Assistance Grant program. The syllabus and the material of the course were composed using the recommendations from the USAID Hydropower Investment Promotion Project’s (HIPP) Energy Markets Expert – Valeri Vlechkov. The course materials were edited by the D.Sc. in Economics and Professor Demur Chomakhidze and published as book. The course emphasizes the main directions of the electricity policy, the peculiarities of the sector regulation, the economic and social aspects of the development of the sector and specificities of the functioning of particular electricity markets. The aim of the course is to teach the students skills for the analysis, modeling and planning of the electricity policy. The new course launched from spring semester, 2013 at Grigol Robakidze University for the MA students of the Energy Management module.
